Felix’s Restaurant and Oyster Bar – 739 Iberville Street, New Orleans, LA 70130 – This place is right across the street from the famous ACME Oyster House. I’ve been here before because the line to ACME is absurd. My first trip to Felix’s was a pleasant surprise when we had raw oysters and fried alligator. Both were fantastic. This time, we had raw oysters and blackened alligator. Unfortunately, on this visit, the oysters I had were dirty and filled with broken pieces of shell. I don’t know what happened, but maybe an inexperienced person was shucking or something. I was extremely disappointed, but my friends didn’t seem to have the same problem with their oysters. The blackened alligator was really good though even if the pieces were really small. I would recommend the blackened alligator over the fried, but both were tasty. For those of you that don’t know, alligator can taste like chicken or pork depending on its preparation and it is often very lean. I definitely recommend trying it.
