What personal data we collect and why we collect it
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
If you upload images/video/media to the website, you should avoid uploading media with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location, device, or personal data from media on the website.
Information such as your email address and name may be used in contact forms so that we can respond to your messages. If you need to contact HIAK, please use the form on the About page.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
HIAK uses Google Analytics and Google Webmasters for website monitoring as well as WordPress’ Jetpack. Visitors can opt-out of Google Analytics for Display Advertising and customize Google Display Network ads using Google’s Ad Settings page. Users can completely block Google Analytics tracking using Google’s Opt-out browser add-on.
Who we share your data with
HIAK uses sites that advertise, market, and retarget (like Facebook, Instagram, WordAds, or Google Adwords, etc.). Cookies and pixels are used to understand and deliver ads and make them more relevant to you. We may also use a cookie to learn whether someone who saw an ad somewhere else later visited our website. Cookies and data may be used to track your visits to this site and other websites without saving any personally identifiable information. We may use this data for showing you advertisements about our website or associates. We do not control how these cookies are used/generated, but may gather data from them through the use of advertising sites. Users may opt out of the use of some/all of these cookies or data gathering sites by visiting the sites and setting their preferences.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. Posts made to the site are also retained indefinitely.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you, but it will be up to our discretion (or if required by law) to remove that information. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. Any data stored or generated by a user on this site is owned by HIAK until/unless negated by the law. By creating any content or comment on this site, you agree to pass on the full ownership and right to use to this website.

If a parent or guardian believes that the site has personally identifiable information of a child under the age of 18 in its database and would like it removed, please contact us immediately through the form in the About section of the site and we will use our best efforts to promptly remove such information.
