Mausoleums

Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 – 1400 Washington Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70130 – This cemetery is right across the street from Commander’s Palace. Unfortunately, they keep strange, limited hours, so we had to wait until the next day to go and check it out. They give tours here that last 1.5 hours, which is about 1.2 hours longer than they probably should be. Nonetheless, we enjoyed walking around and checking out many of the engravings on the mausoleums, which are unique to an area like New Orleans. As insensitive as it sounds, I kept imagining scenes from “Interview with the Vampire” or Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” video. I mean that in only the best way possible though.
