This was the view from the kitchen in the apartment on the first morning I spent in Sudan. The sun is almost always shining, the temperature was 70 degrees in December, and the palm trees were everywhere. There are many nice buildings in Sudan (like the apartment I was in), so don’t let these worn down structures fool you. I found it quite common that a luxurious building can often stand right next to a dilapidated shack. The one thing many homes have in common though is bed-frames (and mattresses) on rooftops or patios ready to be setup at any time for sleeping/napping outside.
