Iris Rehearsal Dinner

Iris – 321 North Peters Street, New Orleans, LA 70130 – The rehearsal dinner for the wedding took place at a fancy restaurant called, “Iris.” Inside the restaurant they have an outdoor courtyard, which was very nice for people to gather and have a drink prior to dinner. The dinner consisted of three courses. I chose a pancetta salad, the duck breast, and the chocolate “souffle.” The salad tasted very fresh and the star was definitely the fried piece of pancetta on top. The duck breast wasn’t dry at all and cooked to a medium-rare, so it tasted really tender. Lastly, the chocolate “souffle” wasn’t a souffle at all. I think they messed up on the menu or named it improperly or something because this was just a really dense piece of chocolate cake. It was good, but an awkward surprise when you’re expecting a souffle. What I didn’t have, but should have had was the Poached Pear dessert. This was absolutely phenomenal. I don’t know what it was poached in (maybe simple syrup, vanilla, and cinnamon), but it was filled with cream and just stole the entire dinner. Highly recommended.
