Dressler

Dressler – 149 Broadway Brooklyn, NY 11211 – The last place I ate was Dressler for brunch the morning after the wedding. While the company I went with was delightful, the restaurant itself did not live up to its boast of “fine dining in Brooklyn.” The restaurant interior talks the talk, but the food did not walk the walk so to speak. I ordered a special that day, which was the Homemade Corned Beef Hash with two eggs any style. I asked for the eggs over easy. They came over hard. Strike one. The corned beef hash was super greasy (literally dripping with oil) and had a really sour lemon-zest flavor that did not work well with the shredded beef they called corned beef hash. Strike two. Everyone else at the table who got poached eggs received their eggs cooked all the way through. Strike three. The best thing on my plate was the small portion of bitter greens that accompanied my dish. The atmosphere was nice and the service was better than average, but the food was just not worth it. Hopefully this was just a unique experience, but I can’t recommend this restaurant based on this one visit. Luckily, everything else I ate in NY was so good that this one meal didn’t get me down.
