Bite Size Kitchen – Physical Location at Smorgasburg – This little place is run by Connie Sun and it looks like she teaches cooking classes and provides catering services. The only physical location to try the food is at Smorgasburg. When I was there, the star item at the booth was pork belly. Mini-pork belly sandwiches with Asian-themed seasonings and wrapped in a rice(?) flour bun. I bought one of each kind of mini-sandwich – the fried pork belly and the braised. My friend took the fried and I tried the braised. This was the first time that I ever tried pork belly, so I was very excited. Unfortunately, the sandwich didn’t really impress me. I thought that the pork belly was interesting, but the texture wasn’t great. The flavors in the braised pork belly sandwich were a little too sweet and the bun wrap was really bland. It was a fun sandwich to try, but the flavors didn’t really deliver. I have had pork belly a few times since then and I discovered that people can do some amazing things with it, so in comparison, the sandwich fell flat for me. On the other hand, my friend really enjoyed his breaded and fried pork belly sandwich. He added some more spicy sauces to his as well, which he said made it even better. So, based on his recommendation, I would try the fried one next time and skip the braised all together.
