Duchess Restaurant

Duchess – 343 Old Gate Ln, Milford, CT 06460 – On the way to NY, to the chagrin of the two females I was traveling with, I insisted that we try Duchess. I’d never been there before and one of my favorite road trip traditions is trying out fast food places that aren’t near me locally. Every time I’ve passed through Connecticut, I’ve seen a Duchess here and there. One of my friends that lives in CT told me that Duchess is “famous” for their soda fountains because you can mix and match soda flavors to create new sodas that don’t exist in “nature.” In this regard, Duchess did not disappoint, I think I made myself a cherry and vanilla flavored Coke Zero. The girls acted repulsed, but I know that deep down they were in awe of my soda mixing prowess. The food was pretty standard. The fries were ok. Nothing special. The cheeseburger was a bit overcooked, but I was impressed that it was almost like a home cooked burger and they served it on a higher quality bakery style bun. All in all, I don’t regret eating here, but as far as fast food goes, I wasn’t blown away.
