Hawthorne Hotel Salem, MA

Hawthorne Hotel – 18 Washington Square West, Salem, MA 01970 – This hotel is named after one of my favorite authors. Pictured is a side entrance to the historic hotel. This hotel definitely felt like it had a lot of history. The decor and rooms felt like being a guest in a large mansion. A nice place to stay if you can get a deal on it and you’re looking for old world ambiance. The location is also walking distance from a lot of historic sites. There are many hotels in the same price range with better amenities though. The hotel restaurant or bar that night was invaded by drag queens. I still have no idea why they were there or what they were doing, but there were a lot of them chatting up the patrons. Pretty funny when considering how out of place they seemed at the conservative style hotel.
